The Norwegian parliament (The Storting) has adopted a number of legislative amendments to ensure a more sustainable asylum policy and strengthen border control.
An increasing number of asylum seekers are choosing to return to their country of origin. In November, 230 persons applied for return assistance, compared with an average so far this year of around 140 per month.
Immigration to Norway is strictly regulated.
Starting 1 July 2020, a new Interim Act relating to entry restrictions for foreign nationals out of concern for public health will enter into force along with associated Regulations.
