Peace and conflict resolution
For several decades, Norway has been engaged in a number of peace processes. Promoting conflict resolution and reconciliation is a key aspect of Norwegian foreign policy. A peaceful world is in Norway’s self-interest. Norway is also concerned with relieving and preventing the human suffering caused by conflict. The Norwegian support for parties in conflict to seek political solutions costs little in comparison with military means and the costs of armed conflict.
